What Allowances?

I'm sorry but am I missing something here? The MP's allowances and corruption that has dominated the media and the country these last few weeks ended for me when I recieved an email from my local MP, a long email.
James Duddridge, Conservative (Southend on Sea) wrote a very very long email titled Parliamentary Allowances, he was trying to explain why he was the 102nd most expensive MP in 2007-2008, (two of his staff got pregnant!). James however did not 'flip' his main and second homes and also he did not get taxpayers to buy furniture for his London flat, he got 'hand-me-downs' There then appeared a long list of what he had claimed (within the rules) and how Mr Cameron was clamping down on all of the naughty MP's who had, 'within the rules' stolen from the taxpayer.
Anyway to cut this short, (I'm not a big writer) just to emphasise to James exactly how I felt I replied in a very short email:

Hi James,
I honestly can't see how you manage, I live in Southend on Sea and work in Greenwich, London, I work 24/7 shifts, consisting of Nights/Days/Earlies and Lates, sometimes when other staff do not show up I do a maximum allowed of 12 hours, (within the rules) on these occasions it is pointless coming home to sleep for 8 hours so I find myself on an old mattress in a porta cabin.
I commute 100 miles 5 - 6 times a week, I have to use the car as I cannot afford to use the train, also public transport would not get me to work on time for some of my shifts.
I do all of this for £26,000 a year. I get no allowances and pay all of my bills and taxes, also I am not in debt.
My heart bleeds for you mate, we obviously live in different worlds politicians and I, mine being the real one. It's a good job the Taxpayers Alliance is not a political party eh?

Regards
Tommy
